The itinerary of the 5-day tour from Marrakech to the Merzouga Desert

 

 Day 1: Marrakech- High Atlas Mountains- Ait Ben Haddou- Dades Valley.

 

Our Adventure “5-day tour from Marrakech to the Merzouga Desert“ Starts from your Hotel and departs towards the High Atlas Mountains, where you will enjoy the scenic road, beautiful landscapes with different colors, and the Berber villages along the way.  After crossing the High Atlas Mountains, we’ll be at a UNESCO World Heritage site, which is Ait ben Haddou Kasbahs. In that spectacular stage where The Mummy, Game of Thrones, and The Jewel of the Nile shot. After visiting those Kasbahs, we’ll head to Dades Valley.

 

 

Day 2: Dades Valley- Todra Gorge – Erfoud – Merzouga Desert.

 

After breakfast, we will depart to Tinghir, where you’ll have stops to see the Jewish quarter (where Moroccan Jews used to live) and one of the most beautiful valleys in Morocco, which is Todra Valley. Then, we continued to Todra Gorge and had free time to trek inside the gorge, which is about 300 m high. Afterward, we will leave for Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga, passing by Erfoud(the capital of fossils). There, you will ride Camels and cross the highest dunes in Africa with a stop to see the sunset. Finally, you’ll arrive at the camp, where you will have dinner and music under a starry sky.

 

Day 3: Explore the Merzouga Desert.

 

After waking up to enjoy the sunrise on the top of a dune near the camp, you’ll go back to a hotel where you will have a shower and breakfast, then drive to an Oasis to see an Underground Irrigation System used in the Sahara. Afterward, we will continue our journey with Nomads, where we will share a cup of tea with them and figure out how they live in the Sahara. Later on, we’ll have a traditional Berber Pizza lunch and visit the Gnawa people, listening to their music. Then, free time in the hotel.

 

Day 4:  Merzouga- Rissani- Daraa Valley- Ouarzazate.

 

After breakfast, we’ll drive to Rissani, a small Saharan town in the southeast of Morocco; we may stop to visit one of the biggest local markets in the area if it is a day market( Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday). Then, we continue to Ouarzazate via Draa Valley, which is the biggest valley in the southeast of Morocco and is full of date trees. Afterward, we will head southwest to Ouarzazate( the Hollywood of Africa), crossing the small volcanic Atlas Mountains through  Ait Saouen Pass 1740 m. Dinner and overnight in Ouarzazate.

 

 

Day 5: Ouarzazate – Marrakech through the High Atlas Mountains.

 

Leaving the hotel in the morning, we may visit Taourirt Kasbah and cinema studios where many films have been shot. Afterward, we’ll Cross the High Atlas Mountains via Tizi n’Tichka pass 2260 m high, enjoying magnificent views till we get to Marrakech.
